Quiapo Church prepares for Traslacion 2023

The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, popularly known as the Quiapo Church in Manila, began preparations for the Feast of the Traslacion of the Venerated Image of the Black Nazarene in January 2023.

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, more worshipers are expected to join the celebrations early next year.

The Quiapo Church has released the official logo and theme for Traslacion 2023: “Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it. (Luke 11:28).

The Church of Quiapo said the logo for Traslacion 2023 was inspired by the endless visits of worshipers and believers to the church, despite and because of the pandemic.

The cross in the logo symbolizes the safety of the faithful while the brown color was taken after the traditional color of the black Nazarene’s vestments. The orange color symbolizes evening light.

The church tower serves as a symbol for the faithful to unite in prayer.

The logo also features the Synod symbol and the Rosary in solidarity with the Church’s preparation for the October 2023 Synod of Bishops and the Church’s continued journey in the synodal consultations of the dioceses.

As Pueblo Amante de Maria country, the Holy Rosary was introduced because, through prayer, the Blessed Virgin linked citizens to the path of Jesus. The face of the Black Nazarene symbolizes the light of hope amid the many challenges of today’s world.

Organizers have not yet announced whether there will be a procession next year.
