Netflix Canada: filming a horror show at the church in Vancouver

The highly anticipated show will film scenes outside the church and there will be intermittent traffic enforcement.

Horror and literature fans will be delighted to hear that a highly anticipated new show is currently filming in Vancouver.

American filmmaker Mike Flanagan is once again bringing his chilling prowess to the small screen, trying his hand at adapting the works of one of the greatest literary figures into a mysterious miniseries for Netflix.

The Fall of House Usher is a short story written by American playwright, poet and novelist Edgar Allan Poe. Like many of the writer’s works, the story centers around gothic and dark themes.

Flanagan’s miniseries is also called The fall of House Usher, but is based on many of Poe’s works, according to Deadline.com,

BOREAL Productions Inc. will begin filming Tuesday, June 14 at 6 p.m. at Holy Rosary Cathedral located at 646 Richards St. in downtown Vancouver. Filming will continue through the night until 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

There will be intermittent traffic control on the 400 block of Dunsmuir at various times during filming. The crew will film exterior scenes outside the church from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The film crew will return to repeat the same program from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.

Flanagan is known for several other popular horror TV shows and movies, including Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep, and Gerald’s game.

The Fall of House Usher is set to drop on Netflix Canada in 2022.
