Annual feast at the famous St Anthony’s Church in Dornahalli on June 13

Mysore, June 2: The historic Dornahalli Jatra has been canceled for the past two consecutive years in Mysuru due to the pandemic. This time the party will be celebrated with people. The nine-day novena will begin on June 4.

The flag-hoisting ceremony, after which the novena begins, will take place at 5:30 p.m. on June 4. The Eucharistic celebration will be celebrated by the Bishop Emeritus of Mysore, Dr. Thomas Antony Vazhapilly on this day.

Bishop Alfred J Mendonca, Vicar General, Diocese of Mysore, will celebrate Mass on June 5, Bishop Dominic Vas, Episcopal Vicar for Religious Congregation, Diocese of Mysore, on June 6, Dr Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector, St Philomena Educational Institutions, Mysuru, June 7, Fr Madalai Muthu, Treasurer, Mysore Diocesan Educational Society, Mysuru, June 8, and Father Michael Mari, Pastor, St Joseph’s Church, Siddapura, June 9. Eucharistic celebrations will be celebrated with novenas.

From June 10-12, Father Roman Pinto and his team will lead the faithful in special preaching, prayers and adoration from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On the day of the festival, masses will be held from 5 am until evening. On the feast day, June 13, the Kannada Festival Eucharistic Mass will be celebrated by the Bishop of Mysore, Dr. K Antony William. The Tamil Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. and the Eucharistic celebration will be celebrated by Dr. A. Amalraj, Diocese of Ootacamund. The Mass in English will be held at 1:00 p.m. and the Eucharistic celebration will be celebrated by Dr. Rozario Menezes, Bishop of LAE, PNG, and another Mass in Kannada will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. by Bishop Jayanathan, Secretary, KRCBC. A car procession will follow the mass and the blessing of the Holy Eucharist will take place. The public participating in Jatra must follow the rules of the COVID protocol.

1. Donors are asked to come forward to help the development of the Basilica.
2. All required religious items are available at the religious stand.
3. Arrangements are made for pilgrims as usual.
